What do you know about Malta 🇲🇹? Officially known as the Republic of Malta, it’s a Southern European island country with a population of just under 450,000 👨👩👦. So it’s one of the world’s smallest and most densely populated countries. But the recent financial news tells us that very soon that little island 🏝️ can become a world center of blockchain industry.
When the world’s largest economies, such as USA 🇺🇸, Japan and China 🇨🇳 either have no clear regulatory frameworks concerning blockchain investments, or have banned ICOs at all, Malta seems to be the first country to rely on blockchain as on the future of financial institution 📈. The idea to create the most attracting conditions for blockchain industry employment comes from above: Joseph Muscat, The Prime Minister of Malta, noted that he believes in «fintech, blockchain and virtual currencies to be the base of the new economy in a few years».
In comparison with other countries, where cryptocurrencies are in legal state as well, Malta has all the chances to become first to implement a real regulatory framework for the most rapidly changing market today. In order to complete the task, a special government authority — Digital Innovation Authority was created. There are also plans to create a law governing and controlling ICOs and companies dealing with DLT technologies.
After various blockchain industry representatives gave highly positive reviews on the situation, Changpeng Zhao 🤵 (the CEO at Binance, the world’s biggest crypto exchange) announced that his company will move to Malta shortly. Soon after his announce, Founder of Tron foundation along with CEO of Monaco Card и BigONE also replied to be ready to move to Malta. After all, it looks like Malta is moving in the direction of making its economy truly «future proof». And in case of successful implementation of the regulatory framework for blockchain companies, it has all the chances to become a new home for digital currency-focused startups.
